Rabbit & Easy Fold Basket

I first learned to make this bunny basket in Mrs. Hayden’s kindergarten class. Sitting in my small blue plastic chair, I colored with abandon and breathed in deeply the smell of freshly copied pages and white glue paste. I remember being so excited to discover you could turn a regular sheet of paper into a basket. We stuffed the paper baskets with green plastic grass and each received a few eggs. I’ve recreated the baskets here.
To make, print out template on paper or cardstock.

You can either leave the bunny plain, color it, or decorate it with felt. To add felt, trace the shape of the head onto the felt, cut and stick to the front of the basket. Add eyes, nose, mouth, and bow out of other small pieces of felt.

To make the easy bunny, download template. Cut two felt bodies and two heads. Cut eyes and sew to right side of one head. With embroidery floss, stitch eyelashes, nose and mouth as desired. With wrong sides together, sew together bunny bodies with the running stitch and sew together bunny heads. Stuff and top stitch head to body.

Or just stuff the ears and turn the head into a bunny finger puppet.

Bunny may be turned into a bean bag if you stuff with raw beans. Use to play bunny hop scotch.
