Letters from London

Dear Reader
The fairy lights are twinkling in the streets around St. Paul’s. Shoppers are darting in front of double decker buses in their hurry to the Oxford Street sales. Workmates are toasting seasonal cheer while having to fork out $60 a head for their holiday party. Oh the Christmas credit crunch!
Why not do something different this holiday season? Make it a handcrafted holiday. Create your own seasonal cheer around our Babushkas, Belgium, and Bears theme. In this issue, Extremely Crafty shows you how to make delicious Babushka cookies that are almost too adorable to eat and how to sew a Babushka stocking for all those wonderful Christmas morning surprises!
As for Belgium, we toured two of the most popular Christmas markets and listed tips for your to plan your trip. Even better, just before we published this issue, we found an English Christmas market in a village outside London which was absolutely delightful – juicy steaming meat pies, Morris folk dancing, and market stalls with sumptuous foods – why bother even leaving the country?
And bears - chocolate bears, bears in bags – they’re everywhere this time of year.
Babushkas, Bears, and Belgium. We hope we inspire you and add a twinkle to your season.
Happy Handmade Holidays!
Michele
